SEWING COURSES LEVEL ONE (1)

This sewing program is more comprehensive courses for Individual learning (1 to 1) with flexible schedule of candidates’ arrangement (subject to availability).

Learn sewing skills including taking body measurements, layout option, facing, gathers, pockets, zippers, hems, hand stitches, and selecting patterns, fabrics and equipment. Learners will make a basic formal and casual dress, blouse, skirt and pant. The use of relevant tools and equipment, using a sewing machine and basic sewing techniques. Construction of darts, gathers, zips, hems, collars, cuffs, facings, waistbands etc. Laying patterns onto fabric, costing fabric etc.

Classes consist of 36 hours (3 hours x 12 sessions).

This class is designed to empower Learners with the ability to skillfully sew basic outfits and quickly advance to the next level of sewing with ease. Learners will learn how to operate their sewing machines and how to use the attachments that come with their machines. Learners will also acquire basic sewing techniques that will be with them for a lifetime.

S1.1.1U - Interpret Patterns and Sew Formal Skirts & Blouses

The basic foundational of pattern making and sewing techniques in sewing skills to build a new fresh or beginner that they will learn how to make a top and bottom from start to finish. And, including how to adapt the patterns to create a different style, using a domestic or industrial sewing machine because of the high-quality that looks professionally made. There will be hands-on practical assignments teaching you how to understand the techniques of sewing to develop better skills. 

In this class, an instruction is given through whiteboard and will show learners how to do the basic structure of the drafting top (blouse) and bottom (skirt) using quarter scale rulers, to create a top and bottom from beginning to end. This course involved taking body measurements, flat block pattern making, cutting method and sew techniques.  Learners will make and sew according to the actual size of their body, how to create different foundational skirts and blouses that fit to their body which covers adding pockets, waistband, zipper, interfacing, hemming, front and back of button stands include a variation of neckline and sleeves.

S1.1.2U - Patterns Making and Sew Kurung & Kebaya Pesak Suits

A traditional course is to develop learners basic drafting through pattern making and to sharpen learners’ sewing skills to the professional standard.    This practical sewing course will help you with the basics familiar of sewing machine to build your confidence with an industrial standard and develop a range of related sewing skills. Learners will focus on how to make lightweight garments for traditional women wearing that looking at the techniques used in top-quality ready-to-wear pieces.

This traditional sewing course provides basic skills in pattern drafting and operational sewing processes. The drafting involved technical methods in the construction of various kinds of top and bottom. It also covers sewing techniques and hands-on sewing operations. Learners will gain the knowledge in selecting fabrics, pattern layout and cutting and basic sewing techniques. Additional topics may include the pressing of sewn garments, standard types of sewing machines and seam styles as well as final sewing of a finished piece.

7.     Build in fabric retraction and shrinkage into a garment

S1.1.3U - Develop Patterns and Sew Casual Vintage Dresses

This garment making course will begin by analysing the pattern deciphering the markings and terminology. Learners discover how to layout and mark your fabric correctly before cutting out dress pattern pieces. Introduction to the professional industrial-standard sewing machines with complete several types of stitching to assemble your finished garment.  With the guidance of the tutor, you’ll work your way through the construction process to create a practice garment, altering as necessary to ensure a good fit.

This sewing course is advanced sewing skills and build a confidence in various pattern cutting techniques such princess line, empire, dart asymmetrical and drop waistline. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on experience, learners will learn how pattern pieces are shaped to make garments and layout patterns ready to cut on fabric.  And, develop knowledge of the fashion industry and introduced to the process of pattern drafting and garment construction using industrial sewing machines.   The garment construction process and embellishment employing different fabric manipulation techniques.

S1.1.4U - Develop Patterns and Sew Oriental Cheong Sam Dresses

This traditional course provides the sewing fundamentals of professional patternmaking, and sewing techniques. Learn the basic skills and techniques of basic hand stitches through practical exercise. Demonstrations and samples with the various industrial sewing techniques on a how to construct a traditional and modern cheongsam dresses which include piping and bias bind.

This sewing course has been designed to teach the basic ways and means of hand sewing with a focus on the realization of practice muslins or ‘toiles’ in conjunction with the flat pattern course. This course will also develop the pattern of traditional design to finish an original creation. The course provides knowledge with the ability to recognize the basic terminology of sewing and construction.  Include with the ability to select the proper materials and sewing techniques for a style or detail. Also, it’s will give to analyze the way the latest fashion details have been achieved.

The course provides knowledge with the ability to recognize the basic terminology of sewing and construction.  Including with the ability to select the proper materials and sewing techniques for a style or detail. Also, on the design will teach how to patch of beading and trimming are made by professionals and their dupattas with a different color.

QUALIFICATION
  1. Candidates are to have at least 3 GCE ‘N’ level credit in English and Mathematics 
  2. Or at least ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 4 and above to be able to benefit from the course
  3. No sewing skills are required

PAYMENT MODE
